Erweiterung der optischen Bestimmung gesteinsbildender, magmatischer Minerale um z.B. Feldspatvertreter wie Nephelin, Leucit, Analcim, Sodalith. Des Weiteren werden wesentliche, in Sedimenten vorkommende Minerale wie Hämatit, Talk und Pyrophyllit oder Karbonate, Sulfate (Gips, Anhydrit), Halide (Fluorid) und Phosphate (Apatit) angesprochen. Abschließend werden in metamorphen Gesteinen vorkommende Minerale wie Zirkon, Titanit, Granat, Vesuvian, Sillimanit, Kyanit, Andalusit, Topas, Staurolith, Chloritoid, Sapphirin, Epidot-Zoisit, Cordierit, Wollastonit, Chlorit, Serpentin bzw. Korund den Studierenden nahe gebracht.
