Environmental Sciences

The course “Environmental Sciences” deals with environmental challenges and the scientific communication of these. Firstly, it provides an in-depth view on the following topics: the environment as a system; international environmental policies; earth system science; interaction of society and the natural environment; global challenges; historic development of the discipline Environmental Sciences. Also, cutting-edge topics from research in environmental sciences are presented with a focus on current research issues and projects of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. In addition to the academic discussion of environmental challenges, techniques for scientific communication are taught: poster preparation, literature search, rhetoric, presentation, citation and feedback.
